Adding fractions with unlike denominators can be tricky! It takes some practice. Follow these steps. Step 1: Make the denominators the same (by multiplying).
Step 2: Add the numerators (top numbers) & leave the denominator.
Step 3: Simplify if needed.

Example:

Step 1: Multiply to make the denominators the same. “Whatever you do to the bottom, you do to the top.”

Step 2: Now that they’re the same, just add the numerators and keep the denominators the same.
